Why High Speed Internet from Cutthroat Communications?
Due in large part to CCI customers upgrading their networks, the CCI network and its capabilities has grown considerably in the last several years. CCI’s core network is built on a Gigabit Ethernet ring terminated into Juniper redundant core routers. This allows Cutthroat Communications to have a very scalable backbone capable of routing multiple Gigabits of traffic. No Better Internet.
CCI’s Gigabit Ethernet core consists of dual entrances into the all of its major markets and redundant routes to CCI’s three upstream Tier 1 Internet providers. In addition to three different Gigabit Internet providers at the Seattle GigaPOP, CCI maintains Gigabit Ethernet connections to The Seattle Internet Exchange and the Pacific Area Internet Exchange (SIX/PAIX), which allows CCI customers direct access to the networks of over 120 service and application providers. For CCI clients, the benefit is immediately noticeable as lower-latency; higher-bandwidth downloads from application providers such as Google, Microsoft, Yahoo! and RealNetworks.
Proactive.
CCI offers all clients access to its Network Operation Center (NOC) support. This service offers customers 365 x 24 x 7 support with active monitoring of customer connections. In the event of an outage, the CCI NOC will follow our client’s previously determined escalation procedure and contact the client with the issue and begin immediately to determine the cause and resolution to the outage. This proactive approach allows CCI the ability to dispatch its field service technical staff in a shorter timeframe and decrease repair times.

Cutthroat Communications' backbone consists of DS3, OC3, Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet systems terminated into our Juniper Networks-powered core. Keeping a watchful eye.
CCI provides IntuiNet to its Managed Broadband customers. IntuiNet is a real-time monitoring whereas clients can view in actual real-time usage for inbound and outbound Internet traffic. IntuiNet also provides a historical view with the ability to define start and end dates for the bandwidth charting.
MPLS crosses the great divide.
Because MPLS is highly scalable and less complex than its predecessor solutions, businesses gain more flexibility with less overhead and improved control over network costs. MPLS makes it easy to reroute traffic priorities on the fly, or add new locations to the network whenever you need to. The growing need for companies to reduce costs, increase productivity, support more applications and ramp up security is driving today's shift to private MPLS networks. This completely private, fast, and flexible network technology provides end-to-end prioritized network traffic, predictable application performance, and built-in Quality of Service (QoS).
MPLS offers the ability to:
- prioritize/optimize voice, video and data applications
- reduce transit delays and transaction times
- divert traffic around link failures and network congestion
- add new locations quickly
- enhance security and simplify disaster recovery
- streamline network implementation and management
- share a network-based Internet access port without provisioning separate access circuits
Cutthroat Communications operates a network that utilizes many carrier-grade protocols and standards including BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) and MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching). Cutthroat Communications operates its own autonomous system giving Cutthroat Communications and its customers true carrier independence on the Internet. This allows our network to scale with zero dependence on upstream providers.
Redundancy
Many Cutthroat Communications-served markets feature "dual entry" facilities with separate entrances and exits for customer traffic. By providing multiple connections into a city or facility, Cutthroat Communications can leverage its core network to select the shortest path to any destination on the Internet. In addition, multiple paths allow our network to dynamically route traffic around failed or degraded circuits.
Cutthroat Communications delivers customer Internet traffic into the worldwide backbone via diverse connections to multiple Tier 1 carriers, ensuring the fastest of response times and the highest reliability. Cutthroat Communications' core nodes are located inside carrier-class facilities that feature backup power, redundant cooling, fire suppression and security.

Nothing fishy about it.
With FishNET, you can ensure your employees productivity will be higher. FishNet is an Internet Content Filtering solution designed to facilitate safe and productive use of the Internet. By filtering and/or blocking access to specific websites, organizations ensure:
- Inappropriate content is not being viewed, downloaded to the network or distributed to fellow colleagues
- Viruses, spyware, malware and other malicious applications do not infiltrate and affect network performance or thieve confidential information
- Application protocols, such as Instant Messaging and Peer-2-Peer file sharing, are not distracting user productivity or being abused to transfer sensitive data
- The use of high bandwidth applications or websites is minimized or eliminated, keeping bandwidth costs in line with expectations and users focused on appropriate activities
- Internal compliance is adhered to while inherent reporting functions provide Internet monitoring and auditing capabilities
FishNet puts the “Art” in Artificial Intelligence
The FishNet offering is driven by a core proprietary technology that reviews and categorizes new websites in real-time. This Artificial Intelligence based system utilizes the search activities and patterns of more than 14 million users worldwide to constantly identify new entities and threats on the Internet. With millions of new web pages being posted each day, our categorization engine has amassed and strategically categorized over 1 billion URLs.
Web-Based Administration
The web-based administration of the solution gives enterprises the ability to manage FishNet and its policies anytime and anywhere.
Global, Group, and Per-User Filtering
With multiple levels of filtering, enterprise organizations can enforce global policies across the entire network or manage multiple policies based on groups or users. Moving users and groups to other existing Internet usage policies, or creating new Internet usage policies, is quick and simple.
Scheduled Filtering and Filtering Overrides
Network Administrators can manage time of day settings for the filtering and adjust the filtering policies as required. Additionally, groups and individual users can be set to override the filter (although silent tracking can still be performed). For example, this allows Network Administrators the ability to block Instant Messaging for the period of time with a particular group of employees.
Whitelists and Blacklists
Network Administrators s can create lists of acceptable or unacceptable websites. In those instances where a company wishes to override the categorization of a site, the Administrators could Whitelist (allow) or Blacklist (disallow) the site.
Reports can be run on:
- User IDs, User Groups, IP Addresses, dates and times
- Site URL or IP address (destinations), site categories, whether sites were accessed or blocked, whether site visit violates policy violations
- Reports are capable of displaying all visits containing a queried keyword or URL
- Reports can be executed to display policy violations only
